A Brave New World of Socioeconomics:

With mounting debts, rising foreclosures, wage reductions, hefty inflation, skill shortages, and industry implosions, the gap between the “haves” and the “have-nots” are rising.  Some economists and financial experts are predicting that our current 3-tier society: working class, middle class, and rich will become simply a 2-tier society: the rich and the poor.  The middle class, those who can surge and are surging towards wealth, will become a thing of the past…and the American dream along with it.  Are we moving towards a 2-tier society of the rich and poor?  What would be the impact of this idea on the minority community especially the Black community? How can UFSC take a leadership role in both the grass roots and government level to help prevent this possible economic regression in our community?

Fight in or Flight from the Workplace:

Are there bullies in the workplace?  What recourse do you have when the bully is your boss?  Should you fight or flight? How and why?

Leading in Times of Crisis:

The job of a leader is difficult in any environment.  However, in a time of crisis leaders have even more challenges and pressure to grapple with.  What are some of the concrete leadership strategies that leaders should utilize to make difficult choices, connect with their stake holders, and take action in the face of uncertainty to deliver results and move organizations forward in a turbulent, demanding and resource-constrained world?

Regulatory Reform At The Crossroads: What Is the Right Response to the Financial Crisis?

The collapse of the world’s financial markets has resulted in intense examination of how to restructure and reform regulation for banking, securities, insurance, and other parts of the financial services industry. Various regulatory proposals are already being circulated in academic and public policy circles. Governments around the world are considering reforms. Some say create more regulation or a new regulatory agency, and other say do a better job of enforcing the current regulations.   The conversation and decisions surrounding this issue will fundamentally impact how financial services is structured and conducted across the United States and the globe throughout the 21st century.

Positioning Yourself for Your New Career

Unemployment and available top talent are at all-time highs. What kind of creative marketing and networking skills can be employed to better position job candidates for success in acquiring job interviews that ultimately lead to full-time employment?

The Art of Networking in the 21st Century

When our parents wanted to build their professional network they would attend mixers, join professional associations, or get out on the golf course. In this new day and time the technology and social media has changed the way people network for job opportunities, build new relationships and get connected with new opportunities without leaving the comfort of their homes. How can individuals use a combination of old school and new school techniques to develop their networks to achieve their personal and professional goals?
